If you have a slight interest in beer, in addition to quenching your thirst, then you have probably become familiar with various types of beer. Here you will undeniably come across the type of beer called Bock, which is a strong under-fermented lager.

This classic beer poster from around 1885, originally produced by lithographer Henry Jerome Schile, shows a Bavarian woman with two mugs of beer, Bock of course, and a goat.
The goat is most often associated with Bock beer, and that is not entirely by chance. Bock
was first brewed, or invented if you like, in the 14th century by German brewers in the town of Einbeck. A few hundred years later or thereabouts, the skilled brewers from the Munich area had adopted the brewing method, and it was also these who made the beer really famous. However, due to their Bavarian accents, citizens of Munich pronounced "Einbeck" as "ein Bock", which means goat, and so it has been quite natural to associate the type of beer with the goat.
