On a 22-metre-long rock face in Tanum, Sweden, is one of the Bronze Age's most fascinating petroglyphs – The Loving Couple (or the Bride and Groom) from Vitlycke. The carving shows a man and a woman closely entwined, possibly in a wedding ceremony. Some interpret it as a fertility ritual, while others see divine figures or political symbols in the scene. Regardless of interpretation, the couple is part of a larger narrative about the complex worldview of the Bronze Age. My illustration of this iconic couple pays tribute to this rich cultural heritage of Vitlycke.
