Frej, a personification of the fertility of the earth. This fantastic poster is based on an illustration of the Norse god of fertility, Frej, which is just one of many names and spellings by which he is known. The illustration was first created by Carl Emil Doepler way back in 1876, when he created it as part of a costume design for the premiere of Richard Wagner's 'Der Ring des Nibelungen'.
Freyr is a major figure in Norse mythology, where he symbolizes topics such as fertility, prosperity and abundance. When Doepler created this illustration, it became a major part of the art and costume design world. He supposedly captured the essence of Freyr's divine power and influence.
