Abraham Ortelius has made many beautiful maps during his time as a cartographer, and one of the most beautiful has certainly been Septentrionalivm regionvm descrip cum priuilegio, the Nordic regions. The map here is a reproduction of his edition from 1573, which was part of perhaps the first major recognized Atlas, Theatrum Orbis Terrarum.
One of the funny things about this particular map of the North is that it supposedly contains quite a few phantom islands. Then you know what to spend your evening looking for.
