Inspired by ancient sun worship, this illustration shows one of the most prominent figures from the Tamgaly Rock Carvings in Kazakhstan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The rock carvings date from the Bronze Age and represent a complex nomadic culture.
The sun god is characterized by a human figure with a brilliant circle around his head, symbolizing the power of the sun. The figure reflects the importance of the sun as a life-giving force that controls the cycles of nature. The unique tail gives a mysterious and harmonious expression that captured my own fascination with this sun god, and was the reason why I chose to make the illustration.
