The Blåholthuse petroglyphs on Bornholm contain fascinating symbols from the Bronze Age, including the distinctive sunwheels (wheel crosses). The sun wheels symbolize the power of the sun and its journey across the sky, a recurring motif in Nordic art. Close to the sun wheels is a ship, possibly representing the sun's journey or man's transition to the underworld. The rock carvings bear witness to a time when the forces of nature and the destiny of man were closely linked. Unfortunately, these historic works of art are eroding, but they remain an important part of our cultural heritage.
