Lepenski Vir is one of Europe's most important Mesolithic archaeological sites, located on the Danube River in Serbia. A number of iconic stone sculptures, including the "Foremother," were found here. This female figure is often considered a symbol of fertility or a deity associated with the forces of nature.
The "Foremother" represents a deep connection to nature, and the stylized features, which combine human and animal-like elements, reflect the close relationship with the Danube River. The stone sculptures from Lepenski Vir provide an early insight into Europe's religious and artistic traditions.
My work is a personal interpretation of the "Foremother," where I have taken artistic liberties while still maintaining respect and love for her.
This illustration invites you to connect with a distant past and its deep spiritual meaning.
