Replica of the world map Mappa Mundi by Johann Bongars from 1611. His version is built on an even older Mappa Mundi by Pietro Vesconte, from around 1321.
The very old world maps here are always fascinating to look at, and to experience how the world was believed to be connected back then. As with most known world maps from the time, the map is circular and has Jerusalem as its center. Another interesting detail is that North often, if not always, faces left on the old circular maps.
