"We Can Do It!" is an iconic American propaganda poster created by J. Howard Miller in 1943 for Westinghouse Electric. The purpose of this inspirational image was to boost worker morale during World War II.
Interestingly, the poster did not really become known during the war, but gained popularity when it was rediscovered in the early 1980s. Since then, it has been reproduced in many different forms and is often referred to as " We Can Do It! " or as Rosie the Riveter, after the strong female war production worker depicted in the image.
In the 1980s, "We Can Do It!" a new role in promoting feminism and other political issues that were particularly women-related, but also as a symbol of empowerment and resilience in general.
